Power built where the load is
BaseBlue Power is an HDF Energy project. Plants sit next to the load they serve, so capacity does not wait on a grid interconnection.
No BaseBlue Power plant is generating power today.
Portfolio
Sites and where they stand.
Each project pairs on-site hydrogen production with MW-scale fuel cell blocks, sized to one offtaker’s load. Capacity and status come from the project material and change as the work advances.
- First project250 MWIn developmentA 250 MW behind-the-meter fuel cell plant for data center load, with hydrogen produced on site from natural gas.
Site selection
A site has to earn its place.
Four things decide whether a location can carry a behind-the-meter plant: the gas that feeds it, the customers that need it, somewhere for the captured CO₂ to go, and a permitting path that does not consume the schedule.
- Natural gasAccess to abundant, proximal, low-cost gas, so long-term power pricing stays stable and competitive.
- Data centersA location that is attractive to data centers looking for a power connection, in a strong emerging secondary market for hyperscalers.
- PermittingA fast permitting process, outside a non-attainment area, in communities used to energy infrastructure.
Development
How a BaseBlue project gets built.
Each project is developed through its own company. HDF Energy supplies the development services and the fuel cell engineering, so the technical risk and the commercial risk sit with the same team.
Financing and structure- 01
Develop
Land, permitting, and the topographical, geotechnical and environmental studies that validate the design — then the power and CO₂ offtake agreements that make the project financeable.
- 02
Engineer
In-house engineering for the hydrogen-to-power system and its balance of plant, feasibility studies and power system modelling, carried from pre-feasibility through front-end engineering and design.
- 03
Finance
Equity and debt structuring, tax credit application and modelling, financial due diligence, and engagement with infrastructure funds and strategic investors.
- 04
Build and operate
The EPC contract is tendered and awarded, the licensors and the module supplier provide the engineering, and the plant runs under a long-term service agreement.
