The plant under open sky — project render.

Power on your side of the meter

BaseBlue Power is an HDF Energy project. One plant, one team, and a contract shaped around what you actually need to take off it.

What does not change

The same six things are true on every site.

Whoever the offtaker is, the plant is the same machine: containerised fuel cell blocks fed by hydrogen made next door from natural gas.

  • Behind the meter

Dedicated generation on your side of the fence, with no interconnection queue to join.

  • Fuel cell based

Hydrogen-powered PEM stacks in modular blocks — not combustion turbines.

  • Baseload power

Firm output designed for continuous 24/7 duty, not for peaking.

  • Natural gas powered

Hydrogen is produced on site from natural gas, using its own supply chain.

  • Compact and quiet

The fuel cell blocks run at 60–65 dB, the level of office HVAC.

  • Designed for carbon capture

Pre-combustion capture is part of the design from the start, not bolted on later.

What does change

Two ways to contract the same plant.

The project is held in a dedicated company. Which of the two structures below fits depends on whether you want to buy power, or to supply the gas and buy the conversion.

Financing and structure
  • Power purchase agreementYou buy electricity. The project company holds the gas supply agreement on a pass-through basis, runs the reformer, the capture and compression and the fuel cell blocks, and bills you a capacity charge plus variable fees over a long-term tenor. Operations and maintenance sit with the project company under long-term service agreements with the fuel cell supplier and the reformer and carbon capture licensors.
  • TollingYou bring the gas. The project company converts it and delivers power and captured CO₂ against a tolling payment, so the commodity risk stays where it already sits — with you — and the conversion risk stays with us. A partial equity position in the project company is possible under this structure.
